LIVING IN TURKEY/BUILDING JUPITERS - ANECDOTES

Bob Young
I met and played tennis with “Tex” Wheeler, the USAF commisary/PX/Clubs manager in the Eastern Med region.  He and his family lived in Karsiyaki and I spent a lot of time at their home.  The three Turkish girls lived near their home and often visited there.  That is how I knew them.  One of the girls, Lale on the left was the daughter of a Greek Colonel(retired) and a Turkish lady who lived next door to Tex and his family.  Long story, but interesting.  The spring of 1963 Tex, his wife and daughter and I drove from Izmir up through Greece  and Yugoslavia to Austria, spent two weeks there then Tex and I drove back to Izmir, interesting trip.  See attached picture of the Hillman Minx that made the trip.   Also include is Picture of my roommate Jerry Staudt and the head of a wild boar that he shot in the mountains north of the base,   Bob Young
